Terms of Service & Storage Agreement

1. Service Overview

Sic'em Storage (“we,” “us,” “our”) provides seasonal storage services for students in the Athens, Georgia area. Our services include the delivery of packing supplies (boxes, tape, and QR-coded tracking stickers), pickup of packed boxes from customer locations, climate-controlled storage, and delivery of stored boxes to a designated return address within the Athens, GA area.

2. Deposit & Payment

• A $50 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking for standard plans to reserve your pickup slot and initiate delivery of packing supplies.
• A $100 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking for custom service plans (Packing + Boxes, Packing + Oversized Items, Full Room Packout).
• The deposit is applied toward your total balance. For standard plans, the remaining balance is due 48 hours before your scheduled pickup date. For custom plans, the remaining balance is due 2 weeks before the scheduled move-out date to confirm service. If the remaining balance is not received by this deadline, service will not be confirmed.
• The deposit is non-refundable because packing supplies (boxes, tape, QR stickers) are delivered to you upon booking and cannot be resold once assembled or used.
• The remaining balance is collected via Stripe (credit/debit card). A payment link will be sent to you via text message 48 hours before pickup.
• A 5% processing fee is applied to the remaining balance to cover payment processing and handling costs. For example, if your remaining balance is $149, the processing fee is $7.45, for a total of $156.45.
• If the remaining balance is not paid by 24 hours before your scheduled pickup, we reserve the right to cancel the service and retain the deposit. No pickup will be made for unpaid orders.

3. Pricing

• Medium Plan: $199 for 3 medium boxes (18" x 18" x 16"), plus $30 per additional medium box.
• Large Plan: $299 for 3 large boxes (24" x 18" x 18"), plus $50 per additional large box.
• All prices include packing supplies, QR tracking stickers, pickup, 3 months of climate-controlled storage, and delivery.
• Custom Plans: Packing + Boxes Only (from $499), Packing + Oversized Items (from $599), Full Room Packout (from $799). Custom plans include in-room packing assistance (~2 hours). Additional packing hours are billed at $50/hr. Additional boxes beyond the plan are $50 each. Oversized items (futon, TV, mini-fridge, etc.) are priced individually. Final pricing is confirmed after room assessment.

4. Liability & Item Protection

• Basic item protection is included with every booking at no additional cost.
• Maximum liability per box is limited to $100.Sic'em Storage is not responsible for damage or loss exceeding this amount per box.
• We are not liable for damage caused by improper packing by the customer, including but not limited to fragile items packed without adequate protection, liquids, or items that are not fully sealed.
• We are not liable for pre-existing damage, normal wear and tear, or damage caused by events beyond our reasonable control (acts of God, fire, flood, theft by third parties).
• Claims for damaged or lost items must be submitted in writing within 24 hours of delivery. Claims submitted after this window will not be honored.
• Customers are encouraged to carry renter's insurance or homeowner's insurance that covers items in off-site storage.

5. Prohibited Items

The following items may not be stored:

• Perishable food or beverages
• Hazardous materials, chemicals, or flammable substances
• Firearms, ammunition, or explosives
• Live animals or plants
• Illegal items or controlled substances
• Items with a value exceeding $500 per box (unless disclosed in writing)

If prohibited items are discovered, we reserve the right to refuse storage and the deposit will not be refunded.

6. Storage Period & Delivery

• The standard storage period is from pickup (May 4-6, 2026) through delivery (August 14-15, 2026).
• Early retrieval is available with 48 hours' notice and may be subject to an additional fee.
• All deliveries are within the Athens, GA area only.
• Customers may update their return address at any time before August 1, 2026 at no charge by scanning their QR code. Address changes after August 1 are subject to a $50 update fee.
• Delivery dates are August 14-15, 2026. If an earlier delivery date is requested outside of the scheduled dates, a $50 early delivery upcharge will apply, subject to availability.
• If a customer fails to provide a valid return address by August 10, 2026, we will attempt to deliver to the original pickup address.
• Items not claimed within 30 days after the scheduled delivery date will be considered abandoned and may be disposed of.

7. QR Code Tracking

• Each box is assigned a unique QR code for tracking purposes.
• Customers can scan their QR code at any time to view box status and update their return address.
• QR codes are for tracking only and do not guarantee real-time location data.

8. Cancellation Policy

• The $50 deposit is non-refundable once packing supplies have been delivered.
• If you cancel before supplies are delivered, a full refund will be issued.
• Unused, unassembled boxes may be returned for a partial credit at our discretion.
